IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Howard Sidney
Shulman
February 5, 1933 – February 20, 2023
Saratoga Springs, NY - On February 20, 2023, our beloved father, Howard Sidney Shulman passed away peacefully with his daughters by his side. He was born in the Bronx, New York on February 5, 1933 to the late Reta and Albert Shulman.
Howard served in the United States Army Special Services from 1951–1953 in the division of Regimental Athletic and Social Activities. During his time in the Army he made many lifelong friends. Howard always had a great love for baseball. In the service, he was able to play on the Army's baseball team where he met and played ball with Billy Martin of the New York Yankees. He had many great baseball stories to tell and loved sharing them with everyone. After his time in the service, he had the opportunity to play professional ball with the Baltimore Orioles, Kansas City Royals and the Washington Senators. Once leaving the playing field, he then became the business manager of the Pensacola Senators.
Howard spent many years at McGavren-Guild, PGW in sales management and was the radio and television representative for the company. Howard managed WPTR radio station in Albany, NY and a couple of years later, purchased WTXL radio station in West Springfield, MA. He always saw a bigger picture in life and sold WTXL and founded the company Howard S. Shulman Productions, a company dedicated to presenting diversified quality programming and nationally syndicated TV programs for movies, documentaries, dramas, sports programs and variety shows.
Howard will always be remembered for his kind heart and unwavering love for animals. Throughout his life, Howard was a dedicated animal lover, and he devoted much of his time and energy to caring for them. He had a special connection with all kinds of creatures, from cats and dogs to birds and a monkey, and he was always eager to lend a helping hand to any animal in need. Howard's love for animals was not limited to domesticated pets. He had a deep appreciation for all forms of wildlife and observing animals in their natural habitats. Those who knew Howard will miss his kind and compassionate nature, and his love for animals will always be remembered as a defining part of his life.
Howard had many hobbies which of course included baseball, skiing and flying. He enjoyed his daily physical workout every day to keep himself in the best physical shape.
In his retirement years, Howard was able to spend time traveling with his dear friend Monika from Sweden. They traveled back and forth from New York City to Sweden and enjoyed going to the opera, theatre, museums and vacationing in Florida. They shared many long-lasting memories together.
He was an amazing father, loving grandfather and great-grandfather. He had a loving, straight forward, warm and firm personality. He mentored everyone over the years and has left some lasting memories for his family.
