Hubert Andrew Loeffler, Sr., devoted husband and father, 98, died of natural causes August 6, 2025 at his home in Greenfield Center, N.Y. He was born November 1, 1926 in Greenfield, the son of Michael R. Loeffler and Josepha Alataria Geitz.

Hubert graduated from Corinth High School in 1944 and was salutatorian of his class. He was an avid learner and especially interested in medicine, religion and psychology.

He spent 71 years of marriage with the love of his life, Marlene Washburn Loeffler. They met at a square dance in Stoney Creek, NY. Hubert spent his early work life as a lumber jack and worked for a short time at the International Paper Company in Corinth, N.Y. The majority of his work life was spent as a pattern maker at General Electric in Schenectady. He worked his way up and became the manager of the department where he stayed until retirement.

He was active with his son in cub scouts and enjoyed deer hunting, woodworking, gardening and reading. What he loved most was the time he spent camping with family and friends at Lake Eaton in The Adirondack Mountains.

He had a gentle and inquisitive spirit. He gave bone-crushing hugs, was a great storyteller and was a collector of all things mechanical.

He is predeceased by a grandson, Hubert Loeffler III and seven siblings.

Survivors include his wife, Marlene Washburn Loeffler of Greenfield Center, N.Y., son Hubert Loeffler Jr. of Greenfield Center, N.Y., daughter Melia Loeffler Malachowski (John) of Stewartstown, P.A., grandsons John M. Malachowski (Sarah) of York, P.A., Jeremiah M. Loeffler of Saratoga Springs, N.Y., great grandchildren John David Malachowski and Elaina Malachowski of York, P.A. He is also survived by one sibling, Caroline M. Patterson of Saratoga Springs, N.Y. and many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends may call from 12pm -2pm on Monday, August 11, 2025 at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 149 Lake Ave. Saratoga Springs, NY 12866 with a funeral service being celebrated at 2:00pm.

Burial will follow at Greenfield Cemetery, Wilton Rd., Greenfield Center, NY.
