Saratoga Springs, NY - John J. "Jack" Munday passed away Monday, Aug. 3, 2015 at Albany Medical Center. He was 82. Born on Jan. 14, 1933 in NYC, NY, he was the son of the late Patrick and Ellen (Gilmartin) Munday. He attended St. Gregory's and an all boy's catholic high school in NYC. In 1953 he entered the United States Army and held the rank of Staff Sergeant as a Ranger in the 82nd Airborne Division. On Oct. 26, 1957 he married Rita Ginty from the county Sligo, Ireland. She predeceased him on July 3, 2015. As a young man, he worked as a Tool & Dye specialist at Reeves on Long Island, NY. He then worked for the NY Telephone Co. for 34 years in NYC doing corporate installation. Jack loved fishing and wood carving. He enjoyed refinishing furniture that he would find while antique hunting with Rita. His workshop was a mini "Home Depot" where he loved spending his time and had every tool that was ever made. Going to Stewarts on Jones Rd. and hanging out with his "Stewarts Buddies" every day was another thing he enjoyed doing. Above all, Jack was a real family man and spending time with them and his many friends was a blessing. Rita, whom he called "The Misses" was the love of his life and he just couldn't live without her. They are now happy together again for eternity. "We will always love you and miss you deeply Daddy" Jack is survivied by two daughters, Eithne Lerman and her husband John of Wilton, NY and Erin Munday and her husband Christopher of Jacksonville, FL ; two grandchildren whom he loved and adored, John Lerman of Saratoga Springs and Tara Lerman "Tabby" of Yonkers, NY. Relatives and friends may call from 4 to 8pm Sunday, Aug. 9, 2015 at the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 North Broadway, Saratoga Springs (584-5373). A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10am Monday, Aug. 10, 2015 at the Church of St. Clement's, 231 Lake Ave. and burial with military honors will follow in the family plot at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Schuylerville, NY.
