Saratoga Springs, NY - James W. Collins passed away peacefully in his sleep at home on Saturday, April 16, 2011. He was 75. Born on August 3, 1935 in Saratoga Springs, he was the son of the late William and Agnes Smero Collins. Jim was a lifelong Saratoga Springs resident, a graduate of Saratoga Springs High School, Class of 1954 and attended Boston College and Siena College in Albany. He served for two years in the United States Army for the Armored Tank Division and was a member of Local Union #773 Plumbers and Pipefitters in South Glens Falls. Jim owned and operated Collins Brothers Well Drilling in Saratoga Springs with his brothers Mickey (Mike) and Bill Collins. He currently owned and operated Collins' Meadowbrook Dairy with his oldest son Michael. Survivors include his wife of 50 years Barbara, four sons; Michael Collins and his wife Karen, Mark Collins and his wife Terri, James P. Collins and his wife Kristina, Kevin Collins and his wife Jill, two brothers; William and Michael Collins, four grandchildren; Quinn, Keegan, Charlotte and James Luke and several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may call from 2 to 4pm and 6 to 8pm Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 North Broadway, Saratoga Springs(584-5373). A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00am on Wednesday, April 20 in St. Clement's Church, 231 Lake Avenue, Saratoga Springs by Rev. Neil Draves-Arpaia. Burial will follow in the family plot at St. Peters Cemetery, West Avenue, Saratoga Springs.
