James C. Drake

October 6, 1946 – March 4, 2024

Malta, NY- Jim was born on October 6, 1946 to the late Robert and Rita Drake.  He spent his childhood in Scotia, NY in a home that his father built.  Jim would also go on to build a beautiful home for his family in Malta, where his wife, Faith still resides.

Jim received an associate's degree from HVCC, where he was instrumental in organizing their early alumni association.  Later he earned his bachelor's degree from Russell Sage College.  He taught for approximately ten years at Spa Catholic in Saratoga Springs.  After that, he used the knowledge he gained from his father and built many homes around the McGregor Golf Course.  During his retirement, he and his wife spent many winters living in Florida on his "dream boat".

Jim is survived by his wife, Mary Faith; his daughter, Kara LaVoy; his grandchildren, Sky, Sage and Rayn; his sister in law,  Maureen Buckley and her husband, Tom; his sister in law, Connie McCarty; as well as many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Jim was predeceased by his brothers, David and Gary; his infant sister, Mary; and his daughter, Kristen LaVoy, whom he loved dearly.

Relatives and friends are invited to call from 10-11am on Monday March 11, 2024 at the William J. Burke & Sons/ Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 N. Broadway, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866. (518-584-5373).  A funeral home service will be conducted at 11am.  Burial will be held in the chapel of St. Mary's Cemetery, Fort. Johnson, NY.

A gathering after the burial will be held at "the house that Jim built", 18 Teaberry Place, Malta, NY 12020.

The family would like to thank all of the wonderful staff at The Pines Nursing Home in Glens Falls.  They have been incredibly kind to Jim and Faith.  He was one of their "unique" residents.
