Obituary

Saratoga Springs, NY - James A. Ferguson, 77, died peacefully with his family by his side on Wednesday morning, February 3, 2010 at Wesley Health Care Center. James was born on December 24, 1932 in Schenectady, New York, the son of the late James and Alberta Ferguson. He graduated from Nott Terrace High School in Schenectady in 1950, and received his B. S. in Economics from Lafayette College in 1954. Upon graduation , James was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Army, serving until 1956, when he was honorably discharged as a 1st Lieutenant. James retired in 1984 from Mobil Oil Corporation where he was an executive in their home heating fuel division. He was a former member of the 1st Reformed Church, and an attendant at Christ Community Church in Schenectady. He was also a member of Phi Kappa Psi while attending college. An avid golfer, James was a long time member of the Mohawk Golf Club, where he carded several holes in one. He spent many happy times in Harwich (Cape Cod) Massachusetts, where his parents lived in retirement. James is survived by his wife of 54 years, Patricia C. Ferguson; his sister Faith Lamplugh and her husband George of Smyrna, Georgia; two children, Elizabeth F. Grosso and her husband William of Niskayuna and Richard James Ferguson and his wife Mary of Saratoga Springs, and two grandchildren, Matthew Grosso and his wife Corrie and Alyssa Bielawski and her husband Daniel all of Niskayuna. In addition, he is survived by an extended family and many loving friends. Services will be private at the convenience of the family.
