James Anthony
Graczyk
February 26, 1960 – January 18, 2026
James Anthony Graczyk, 65, of Gansevoort, NY, passed away on January 18, 2026 from diabetes.
James was born on February 26, 1960, in Albany, NY. He was placed for adoption and adopted by his loving parents Richard and Catherine (A'Hearn) Graczyk residing in Saratoga Springs, NY at the age of eight months old. He had no siblings.
Not only did James have incredible, caring parents, he also grew up in an incredible small town. He was raised Roman Catholic, attending St. Clement's school through eighth grade. He then attended Saratoga Springs Jr/Sr High School and shortly thereafter leaving there went to Union College for Business Administration.
After only two years, James left and in 1982 started "The Edge" statistical computerized racing selections daily newspaper. His father had brought him to the track at an early age, hence the penchant for his interest in Thoroughbred horse racing. It turned out to be a successful venture lasting over 32 years at which time he sold "The Edge" in 2014. He also owned "Sportsline Brokerage House", a sports prognostication information company during the same time winning many National Handicapping contests for football, basketball and baseball while authoring articles for local newspapers including the Saratogian, Times Union, Schenectady Gazette and National publications such as Las Vegas Sports News and Daily News. He also had a two-year stint with Mason & Sheehan on PYX106, making his selections public in the NFL.
During the ninties, James and a friend from Staten Island opened a successful video store on South Broadway in Saratoga called "The Drive-In Movie Store". After leaving there, James relaxed for a while and then "value Van Taxi & Car Service" was born. Unfortunately, in 2016, James' diabetes became worse and after losing all of his toes, and with other various medical issues, he had to go on disability and his active work style had to discontinue. His love of Corvette never stopped, as you may have seen him driving with the license plate "Where 2".
From 2021 until now, James was a dialysis patient at Rubin Dialysis Center in Saratoga Springs and was on the kidney transplant list. His better half, Donna Bracchi of Amsterdam was his rock and he always said that without her, he would have been gone long ago. They have been together since 2006.
His parents pre-deceased him. He is survived by his longtime girlfriend, Donna Bracchi; his daughter Kaleigh Petralia (Jason) and granddaughter Remi Grace of Greenfield Center; a son Richard Graczyk; and his three loving puppies that helped take care of him (Desi, Toy, and Sarg).
