Saratoga Springs, NY James Rockwood Kuelzow passed away peacefully at home, Sunday, April 1, 2012 surrounded by his loving family. He was 83 years old. Born on April 1, 1929 in Jackson Heights, NY, Jim was the son of the late Rockwood August Kuelzow and Ruth Penrose Monahan. He attended Adelphi University in Garden City, NY. Jim served in the United States Marine Corps from 1947 to 1951 and fought in the Korean War, including the Battle of Chosin Reservoir. Following marriage to Mary Theresa Brala on June 20, 1954 they moved from Huntington Long Island to upstate New York, settling in Glenville for the next 37 years before moving to Lake George and now reside in Saratoga Springs. Jim was a sales consultant for Swift Chemical Company from 1954 until his retirement in 1989. Jim was a life member of the VFW, an active member and former director of the International Chosin Few, as well as member of their Northeastern NY and New England Chapters. He also belonged to the Saratoga Korean War Veterans Chapter as well as the American Legion Post in Bolton Landing. In addition to his loving wife Mary, he is survived by four children; Christopher James Kuelzow and his wife Ann (Klein), Cathy Ann Manjunath and her husband Kallanna, Robert James Kuelzow and his wife Elizabeth (Larkin), Suzanne Marie Winton and her husband David; eight grandchildren, Sarah Winton Sweeney and her husband Aidan, Eric Winton, Matthew Winton, Daniel Kuelzow, Caitlin Kuelzow, Julia Kuelzow, Maxwell Kuelzow and Cal Manjunath. Funeral services with military honors will be 11am Thursday, April 5, 2012 at the Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Road. Arrangements are under the direction of the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes of 628 North Broadway (584-5373).
