Obituary

James L. Mogan, 86, of Saratoga Springs, NY, passed away unexpectedly on October 7, 2025, with his loving family by his side. James was born in Brooklyn, NY, to James and Helen Mogan (Fallon) and was the oldest of seven siblings. He graduated from St. Michael's High School and earned both a Bachelor of Arts and a Master's degree from Fordham University. Jim went on to work for Metropolitan Life Insurance Company as a Senior Group Claims Consultant, with his career spanning over 50 years.

Jim was the devoted husband of Josephine Mogan (Scotto), whom he met at just 16 years old. Together, they shared 64 years of enduring love. Jim was also a deeply loyal son and brother. After losing his father as a teenager, he quietly stepped into the role of caretaker by helping support his mother and siblings. This reflected the strength, selflessness, and sense of duty that would come to define him throughout his life.

He later became the proud father of three daughters, Jacqueline, Gina, and Heather, who were the greatest joys of his life. Nothing made him prouder than being "Poppy" to his cherished grandchildren, Samantha Holmes-Prunier, Nicholas James Holmes, and Mia Khazin. He loved watching them grow and took great joy in the remarkable people they have become.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Josephine Mogan; his three daughters, Jacqueline Holmes and her husband Mark, Gina Siemiatkowski and her husband Michael, and Heather Mogan and her longtime partner Michael; his three cherished grandchildren, Samantha Holmes-Prunier and her husband John, Nicholas James Holmes and his wife Madison, and Mia Khazin; and his siblings Maureen Lewin, Michael Mogan, and Gerard Mogan. He is also survived by his brother-in-law Anthony Scotto and his wife Jane, and his sister-in-law Lorraine Mogan. He was predeceased by his three brothers, Kevin, Terence, and Brian Mogan.
