Obituary

Saratoga Springs, NY - James Alfred Poulette III was unexpectedly taken from all those who loved him on September 27, 2024. His death was sudden and abrupt. He was 44 years old.

James was a fiercely intelligent and stubborn man, traits that he would often joke made him troublesome for his family in his youth, but clearly made him their strongest protector and advocate as a man. He had unwavering convictions and was never afraid to share them. He lived his life his way, doing what he loved to make a living and took pride in his accomplishments. He was unyielding in his beliefs and morality, and had the strongest of ethics. He wanted a better life for the people around him; from those that directly affected him, to his neighborhood, to his country and the world itself.

James was generous of the heart. He was quick to offer advice, quick to listen, and always willing to drop everything to help those who needed it. He regularly donated to charities, including Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and Doctors Without Borders. He never forgot Christmas, birthdays or any important celebration. He did not believe in gift cards, because he enjoyed looking for the things that showed he knew what his loved ones enjoyed.

He spent his free time playing video games, enjoying film (not to be confused with movies), and taking daily walks; but his passions were writing, politics, the Red Sox, and the woman who set his heart ablaze with every sentence she spoke to him, his beloved partner. And for those of you needing help with closure, watch the X-Files, watch Babylon 5, watch a Kurosawa or Kubrick film, read 1984, read the Dune series, you will feel his presence with you. And if you're lucky, you might understand a little of his world view.

He is survived by his mother Patricia; his sisters Jacqueline and Hannah, his beloved Selene; his grandmother Lois; his father James Jr; his Uncles Paul, Doug, David P. and David S.; his Aunts Trudi, Ellen, Jill, and Jennifer; many loving cousins, extended family and close friends considered as kin and to every person whose heart clenched when reading his name here… keep a warm place in your heart for him and welcome his memories.

James was the best of us, he showed us how we should live, and treat one another. The world is a darker place without him. But if we strive to be the person he was, the world could be a brighter place.

Relatives and friends may call from 1-3pm, Friday, October 4, 2024 at the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 North Broadway, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866 (518-584-5373). A funeral home service will be celebrated directly after at 3pm.
