Saratoga Springs - James Robert Prough, 74, of Ferndell Springs Drive, passed away Jan. 30, 2009 at his home. Bob was born Dec. 15, 1934 in Nakusp, British Columbia, Canada, to parents John and Anna Prough. He served in the Canadian Air Force from 1952 to 1954 and graduated from the University of British Columbia in Vancouver with a degree in chemical engineering. A long time resident of Queensbury, NY, Bob worked from 1963 to 1993 at both Kamyr and Ahlstrom in Glens Falls. Afterwards, he consulted for Ahlstrom and then Andritz, and worked as a partner in the Glens Falls Group from 2001 through 2005. He moved to Saratoga Springs in 2000 and married Margaret Erickson Prough. Bob enjoyed skiing, biking, golfing, and bird watching with family, and many trips around the U.S. and abroad with his wife Margaret. He is predeceased by his parents, his brothers John and Larry Prough, sister Vera Morrison and nephew Randy Ripper. He is survived by his loving wife Margaret; his sisters Joyce Ripper (Sam) of Gibsons, BC, Jean Olafsson (Olaf) of Garibaldi Highlands, BC, and Alice Walkey (Lorne) of Vernon, BC; his children Heather Staples (Scott) of Bainbridge, Washington, Michelle Harkness (Tom) of Port Hope, Ontario, Kenneth Prough of Mesopotamia, Ohio, and Michael Prough (Tiffany) of Louisville, Colorado; his stepchildren Jon Erickson (Pat) of Burlington, Vermont, Matthew Erickson (Mandy) of South Bay, New York and David Erickson of Tucson, Arizona; and his grandchildren Madeleine Harkness, Zidane Prough, Zo and Quinn Staples, and Louis and Jon Erickson. Relatives and friends may call from 4 to 6pm Friday, Feb. 6, 2009 at the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 North Broadway (584-5373) with a service to follow at 6pm at the funeral home.
