Saratoga Springs, NY - James T. Quinn, Jr., a lifelong resident of Saratoga Springs, passed away peacefully Tuesday, February, 24, 2009 at Wesley Health Care Center. He was 82. Born April 21, 1926 in Saratoga Springs, he was the son of the late James and Gertrude Quinn of Regent St. He was a graduate of St. Peter's Academy but missed his graduation ceremony to enter the US Navy in 1944. James was a Radioman and Gunner on SB2-C "Helldivers" carrier based planes. Following his discharge, he returned to Saratoga Springs and attended Siena College, graduating in 1950 with a degree in English. Soon after, James was hired by the Troy Record where he was a writer and reporter, primarily in the sports department, until the early 1970's. He had a second successful career with Metropolitan Insurance Company for seventeen years before his retirement. James passion was always for the sports he reported on; baseball, horse racing, boxing and college basketball. Survivors include his loving wife of 49 years, Dorothy; his son, Thomas J. of Greenfield Center and his sister, Joan (Quinn) Ross of Saratoga Springs. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00pm on Friday at St. Clement's Church, 231 Lake Ave. Spring burial will be in Greenridge Cemetery, Lincoln. Ave.
