Obituary

Saratoga Springs, NY - James Henry Richtmyer, born at home in Delanson, NY on Nov. 5, 1919 and formerly of Rotterdam, NY and Vero Beach, FL, passed away at Saratoga Care Nursing Home Sunday morning, Oct. 12, 2008. Mr. Richtmyer graduated from Delanson High School and was a Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean War, serving proudly on the U.S.S. San Diego in the Pacific and on the carrier U.S.S. Bon Homme Richard, respectively. He retired from the General Electric Co. in 1981 after over 40 years of service in the Schenectady Utilities Department as an electrician and foreman. During his lifetime Mr. Richtmyer enjoyed bowling, golf and pool. His dedication to his family and sense of humor will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law Diedre and Roland Wright and his grandson Christopher Wright of Saratoga Springs, his sister Betty McCartney and her husband Tom of Ballston Spa and a niece and two nephews. He is predeceased by his wife Patricia who passed away in 2002. A graveside service with military honors will be conducted at 1pm on Thursday, Oct. 16, 2008 at the Gerald BH Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Duell Rd., Schuylerville Thanks are extended to Dr. Spingarn and the excellent staff at the Saratoga Care Nursing Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Activity Fund at Saratoga Care Nursing Home, c/o Mary Lou Gaylor, 211 Church St., Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.
