Obituary

James Tommaney, 74, of Knollwood Hollow in Ballston Spa, passed away at home on Sunday, January 25th, surrounded by his family. Born on March 5th,1934 in Albany, NY to James J. and Eileen (Parkinson) Tommaney, brother to William and MaryLou. Jim attended Phillip Schuyler High School in Albany until he enlisted in the Navy, where he was stationed in Hawaii from 1951 to 1954. In 1960 he joined the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 106, where he was highly involved in many facets of the union until his retirement in 1993. After retirement he and his wife Kit moved to Myrtle Beach, SC for ten years before returning to the Saratoga area. He is survived by his wife Kathleen (Kit Casey). Together they enjoyed a close and loving marriage of 51 years. They have two daughters, Susan and her husband, Daniel Mahoney of Lawrenceville, NJ and Corinth, NY, Kerry and her husband, Mark Mincher of Saratoga Springs. He was 'Bubba' to his grandchildren, Megean Mincher of Saratoga Springs, Corporal Maxwell Mincher, USMC, Camp LeJeune, NC. and his great-grandson, Cydric Desplanques of Saratoga Springs. He is predeceased by his sister MaryLou Dwyer with whom he shared the passion of the weekly crossword puzzle. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Jim enjoyed boating, golfing and being near the ocean, but his favorite pastimes were family gatherings and time spent in family activities. Viewing hours will be 4 to 7pm, Wednesday, January 28th, at William J. Burke & Sons, 628 North Broadway, Saratoga Springs, NY (584-5373). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Community Hospice of Saratoga, 179 Lawrence St., Saratoga Springs, NY 12866. The family would like to specially thank Dr. Liebers and his staff for the care and support they gave to him during difficult times, and to Hospice for the support they gave to the family.
