Saratoga Springs - Jane Caroline Adams Wait passed away at her home in Saratoga Springs, New York on Wednesday, May 18 ^th , 2022, surrounded by her three surviving children, after spreading joy, light and love to her family, friends and community for more than 100 years.  She was born in Elmira, New York on March 30 ^th , 1922, (Parents Mary Parnell and Charles Francis Adams) and lived there and in Riga, New York until she attended Cornell University from which she graduated in 1943.  She was on the Board of Managers of Cornell's Willard Straight Hall, was elected to Mortar Board, a national honor society, and met her husband, Newman Edward "Pete" Wait, Jr., whom she married on February 26, 1943.

Jane was predeceased by her husband, Newman Edward "Pete" Wait, Jr.; her three brothers Donald Adams, Floyd Adams, and Howard Adams; and her son Newman Edward Wait, III.

She is survived by her sister, Marian Cunningham; her children Marian Wait Walsh (Joe), Charles V. Wait (Candace), and Caroline Putman (David); seven grandchildren, Charles V. Wait Jr. (Natalie), Alexandra Wait LaRosa (Andrew), Christopher Donahue-Wait (Julia), Colin J. Walsh (Preethi), Evan "Pete" Walsh (Carissa), Margaret Stern (Max), and Geoffrey Putman (Parker); and 4 great grandchildren, Charles V. Wait, III and Anna Kathleen Wait, Eurydice Valentine Donahue-Wait, and Luke C. Walsh.

The visitation hours will be held on the front lawn at the Wait Residence, 658 N. Broadway Saratoga Springs, New York from 1pm to 4pm on Sunday, June 12, 2022.

A public concert in her memory will be held at a future date.  In the meantime, the family encourages people who are so inclined to make a donation to the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, in care of David Finckel and Wu Han, 70 Lincoln Center Plaza, New York, NY 10023-6582.

A private interment will be at the Wait Plot in Greenridge Cemetery in Saratoga Springs.
