IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Janet T.
Campbell
March 3, 1936 – November 19, 2023
Saratoga Springs, NY - Janet T. Campbell, of Saratoga Springs, died peacefully at her home on November 19, 2023 after a brief illness.
Janet was born on March 3, 1936 in Amsterdam, New York to the late George and Leila Clem. She lived a full and active life and was a devoted wife, mother, and friend to all who knew her. Janet graduated from St. Anthony High School in Washington, DC and received nursing degrees from St Agnes School of Nursing (Baltimore, MD) and Columbia University (New York, NY). She worked for many years, and in many health care facilities, as a registered nurse. She retired from nursing in 2005 after serving 18 years at the St. John Neumann Residence in Saratoga Springs.
It was when Janet was in residence at Columbia University that she met Wayne Campbell, the man who would become her husband and love of her life. Janet and Wayne were married on January 30, 1960 in Fort Lee, NJ and lived in Rochester and Schenectady, NY before settling in Saratoga Springs where they raised three sons. Janet was active in her church community, the Church of St. Peter in Saratoga Springs, and served as a volunteer for Red Cross and other civic organizations. She was a staunch advocate for Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) and Birthright International.
Janet loved to travel and explore nature. However, she was probably most happy when she was able to dip her feet into the crystal clear waters of Schroon Lake, NY where the family had a summer cabin. Janet truly loved the water, whether it be Schroon Lake, traveling on a cruise ship, or as a frequent visitor to Oregon - her sons all eventually moved to Portland - where she was always up for a trip to the Oregon coast.
Janet is survived by her husband of nearly 64 years, Wayne, her eldest son Joseph Mark Campbell (Lisa), her youngest son Wayne Matthew Campbell (Shelly), grandson Aiden Campbell, and her daughter-in-law Connie Campbell. She is preceded in death by her middle son Jon Michael Campbell.
At the request of the family there will be no visitation and no memorial service.
Donations in Janet's name can be made to the Church of St. Peter, Saratoga Springs, NY.
Arrangements are under the direction of the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 North Broadway, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866 (518-584-5373).
