Saratoga Springs, NY – Janet A. Woodcock, 93, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 20, 2015.
Born on Sept. 5, 1922, Janet was a lifelong resident of Saratoga Springs and a 1940 graduate of Saratoga Springs High School. She worked in the office of Thompson's Laundry until it closed. She then took a job with the finance office for the City of Saratoga Springs where she worked until her retirement. Janet was a longtime member of the United Methodist Church and was active in several women's clubs and organizations. She loved life, her many friends and most of all her family. She got great joy from spending time with her great-grandchildren. Janet also enjoyed watching people walk by her porch on their way to the race track in August.
Janet was predeceased by her parents, Paul and Edna (Payne) Wright; her husband of 35 years, Harold (Stubby) Woodcock and her son Paul Stephen (Chops) Woodcock; her siblings, Phyllis Jebo, Dorothy Benton, Elizabeth (Betty) Benton, Paul D. Wright and Kenneth Wright.
Survivors include her daughter Wendy (Joseph) Adkins; seven grandchildren Stacey (Bryan) Scott, Bryan H. (Tracey) Adkins, Christopher Adkins, Joseph A. Adkins, Paul S. (Woody) Woodcock, Jr., Carol (Eric) Marx and Farrah (Jeff) D'Aloia; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great- grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends may call from 4 to 7pm Monday, Dec. 28, 2015 at the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 North Broadway, Saratoga Springs (584-5373). A funeral service will take place at 10am Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2015 at the funeral home and burial will follow in the family plot at Greenridge Cemetery, Lincoln Ave.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Mary's Haven, 35 New St., Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.
The family would like to thank the staff and volunteers at Mary's Haven for the kind, loving and compassionate care Janet received. Also, thank you to Karen Murdick, RN and Mary Cook, LPN from Community Hospice for providing loving support and tender care for Janet in the months preceding her stay at Mary's Haven.
