IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jason Andrew
Drolet
May 6, 1979 – August 28, 2021
Gansevoort, NY- Jason Drolet, 42, of Gansevoort, NY passed away at home, peacefully surrounded by loved ones, Saturday evening, August 28, 2021 following courageous battle with brain cancer.
Born May 6, 1979 in Ventura California, Jason was the son of the late Robert and Eleanor Drolet.
Jason was a participant (and then went on to become a coach) with the LiveStrong at the YMCA program. The program was truly life changing for him and he became passionate about helping other cancer survivors learn to thrive. Jason was an eloquent speaker and shared his own cancer story often, in hopes that he might inspire another to keep fighting, to keep living. I found this quote that he'd written and it really sums up how Jason lived his life…
"We are all still children, inside - some forget it, some are embarrassed of it, and some embrace it. It is your inner child that tells you to explore the unexplored, that gives you your sense of humor, that allows you to see the world with new eyes and appreciate it's subtle beauty. Grow up outside, stay young inside."
Jason embraced his inner child. He loved going on adventures and exploring new places, but the thing he was most proud of was being a Dad and BooPa (grandpa).
For Jasmine, Ryan, Violet and Greyson, he wrote "Growing with you has been an experience unlike any other in my life and you have definitely made me a better person. I hope that I did the same for you. I wouldn't trade that experience for the world. You have brought levels of happiness and joy to my life that I previously did not know existed. I love you."
Jason is survived by his wife, Lisa Drolet; his children: Jasmine Halsted and Ryan Drolet; his grandchildren: Violet Halsted-Reed and Greyson Halsted-Reed, all of Gansevoort, NY. He is also survived by his grandmother, Eleanor Kurtzahn of North Las Vegas, Nevada; aunts Roberta Brooksher of Russelville, Kentucky and Geraldine Patterson of Ogdensburg, NY and many cousins in Yucaipa, California.
Friends and family are invited to gather for a celebration of life on Tuesday, September 7th from 2-6pm at the Saratoga Spa State Park: Hathorn pavilion.
