Saratoga Springs, NY - Jean E. Shippey Lynch of Nelson Ave., passed away Monday (Nov. 1, 2010) at her residence. She was 94. Born on Dec. 2, 1915 in Glens Falls, NY, she was the daughter of the late Ward G. and Jesse (Maloney) Shippey. Jean was an avid gardener and a Master Certified Flower Judge as well as a Regional Director of the NYS Garden Clubs. She was the founder of the Saratoga Knitting Club in 1942 and a past president of Saratoga-Wilton B.P.O. Elks Lodge 161 Women's Auxiliary in Saratoga Springs. A Red Cross volunteer for over 50 years, she was founding President of Saratoga Vicariate Ladies of Charity. She was married to John J. Lynch, who passed away Sept. 13, 1969. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by one daughter, Jayne Elizabeth Lynch and a daughter-in-law, Patricia Lynch. Survivors include her three sons, Joseph Lynch of Ballston Spa, Thomas Lynch of Saratoga Springs and James J. (Diane) Shippey of Alexandria, IN and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Relatives and friends may call from 9 to 10am Friday, Nov. 5, 2010 at the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 North Broadway (584-5373). Funeral services will be conducted at 10am at the funeral home by the Rev. Neil Draves-Arpaia. Burial will follow in the family plot at St. Peter's Cemetery, West Avenue.
