Syracuse, NY - Jeanne L. Rodems, age 85, passed away Saturday, Sept. 10, 2011 at the Wesley Health Care Center in Saratoga Springs, NY. Jeanne grew up in Hazard, KY, and attended the University of Illinois where she met her late husband, James D. Rodems, in the marching band. At U. of L. she studied music and was a voice major. After college, Jeanne and Jim lived in several cities including Philadelphia, PA, Champaign Urbana, IL, Buffalo, NY, and Syracuse, NY. Jeanne was a homemaker and enjoyed cooking and knitting. She was active in such associations as the CBA PTA, Saint Therese Church, Rockefeller Church, and the Onondaga County Health Department. For the past ten years Jim and Jeanne enjoyed spending summers on their boat, The Second Chance, up at Sackets Harbor, NY where they formed many wonderful friendships with their fellow boaters at the Navy Point Marina. The damn boat was their home away from home. Jeanne was predeceased by her husband of 62 years, James D. Rodems; her daughter, Susan Ellen Rodems and her sisters, Jackie Wolf and Jane Beasey. She is survived by her sons, James J. Rodems (Debbie) and Brian K. Rodems (Susan); four grandchildren , Sarah, James D (II), Thomas and Lee; her brother-in-law John Rodems (Carole) of California along with many nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at St Marys Cemetery, in DeWitt, NY, Sunday, Oct. 9, 2011 at 3pm, followed by a memorial reception at Saratoga Steaks from 4pm to 6pm.
