Obituary

Saratoga Springs, NY - Jeffrey T. Clark, of Louden Road, peacefully passed away Thursday, May 22, 2014 at his residence. He is 68. Born on Sept. 28, 1946 in Ticonderoga, NY, he is a son of Walter J. Clark and the late Lucille (Porter) Clark. A longtime financial advisor, he was associated with Ameriprise Investments in Saratoga Springs for many years. He was exceptionally community service oriented, serving as a Judge for the Town of Northumberland, volunteering with Special Olympics and perhaps his proudest achievement was serving as the President of the Saratoga Springs Downtown Business Association. A communicant of the Church of St. Peter, he served as a lector at weekend liturgies, was a member of the parish Finance Committee and along with his wife Laura, volunteered for 20 years co-chairing the annual St. Peter Keys Run at Saratoga Spa State Park. He and Laura enjoyed forty-four years of adventure together, including service and life in faraway places like Germany, the Marshall Islands and Georgia. With three children and three grandchildren, he will be sorely missed by those he left behind. A warrior all his life, he served his country for twenty two years in the US Army, first with the Big Red One in Vietnam and later in the First Military Intelligence Battalion in Germany. His daughters will remember polishing his service boots, water skiing around Kwajalein Island in the Pacific and showing Bagheera the bunny at the Saratoga County Fair. His wife will remember traveling across country while first married, visiting art museums in Europe and going on various trail running, snow shoeing and kayaking expeditions in the Saratoga area. While his time was far too short, he leaves behind a rich legacy of family, friends and colleagues who are enriched by his life. In addition to his father of Cobleskill, survivors include his much loved wife, Laura A. (Weidner) Clark and three children; Julie Suarez, Jill Woolley and Jacky Gilchrist. He was blessed with three sons-in-law, Darren Suarez, Robert Woolley and Grady Gilchrist along with three grandchildren Elena and Emilia Suarez and Bryce Arlene Woolley; his brothers John and Robert Clark and one sister Mary Swartz. Relatives and friends may call from 4 to 7pm Tuesday May 27, 2014 at the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing and Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 North Broadway 584-5373. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30am Wednesday in the Church of St. Peter, 241 Broadway by the Rev. John D. Kirwin. Burial with military honors will follow at 11am in the Gerald BH Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.
