Saratoga Springs - Joan Mary Brennan nee' Allen, daughter of the late Edwin Allen and Genevieve Murdick, entered into the hands of the Lord on Saturday, July 15, 2017. She was reunited on her 67th wedding anniversary with her husband Bob, who predeceased her in 2014.

Joan never wanted to miss a party. Born in Albany, NY in 1932, she squeezed every possible joy out of life. Despite losing her husband and sons (Billy and Bobby), she maintained a spirit of joy, which is credited to her deep, unwavering faith in the Lord.  With her passing, stocks in shoe retail, scotch distributors, and dog treats plummeted. She will be remembered for her big heart, her love to celebrate, her joyful spirit, and ancient Celtic soul.

She is survived by her fur baby, Dixie, her two sisters (the Allen girls): Mary Jane (Dave) LaMountain and Barbara (Jim) Frank, her daughter DawnMarie (Jimmy) Helin, 7 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and many, many nieces and nephews who adored her. She loved her family and was looking forward to sharing a drink with her parents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends in heaven.

A funeral service will be held at 2pm Tuesday (July 18) in the Church of St. Peter, 241 Broadway, followed by a reception at The Inn at Saratoga. Burial will be private.
