IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Joan Marie
Ferris
March 28, 1952 – July 10, 2022
Saratoga Springs, NY - Joan Marie Ferris, 70, a kind, caring and deeply loved wife, mother, grandmother and friend went to be with her Lord on Sunday, July 10, 2022 after a long illness. She was born March 28, 1952 in Detroit Michigan to Harold and Lois DeVreugd. Joan, who attended Michigan State University and graduated in 1973, truly made friends everywhere she went. She was generous of her time, energy and resources and could often be found lending a helping hand or lighting up a room with her infectious smile. In her youth she enjoyed water skiing, snow skiing and racquetball and had a lifelong affection for boating that came from summer weekends in Michigan growing up. She loved camping with her family all over the country and in later years wintering in Florida with her husband Mark in their RV.
Joan was incredibly creative and used her talents to create many treasured quilts, blankets and dough ornaments for her lucky friends and family. A devout Catholic, Joan used her creative talents to support the mission of By His Wounds ministry in the quilting of prayer cloths. A member of St. Clement's Catholic Church, Joan enjoyed attending services regularly and volunteered as a Eucharistic Minister and Sunday School Teacher. She retired from Saratoga Hospital in 2012 where she enjoyed a successful career and was fortunate to be able to write her last chapter doing the things that brought her joy and bringing joy to others.
She is survived by her husband Mark Ferris, sister Karen Meyers (John), daughter Elizabeth Hedges (Josh), sons Scott (Kaitlyn) and Kevin (Emily), grandchildren Lauryn, Luke, Zach, Emma and Baby Boy Ferris along with numerous nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents and brother Paul DeVreugd (Shellee).
