Saratoga Springs - Joan Catherine Quinn Ross, 88, died Saturday, March 11, 2017 in Saratoga Hospital after a short illness.
A lifelong resident of Saratoga Springs, Joan was born September 1, 1928, the daughter of the late James T. Quinn and Gertrude Cipperly Quinn. She attended St. Peter's Academy and graduated from Saratoga Springs High School in June of 1946. Following graduation, Joan worked as a telephone operator for the New York Telephone Company. Joan married George Ross, Sr. in 1949, together they raised four children. In the early seventies, she volunteered her time at Saratoga Hospital and later at the YMCA on Broadway which lead to being hired as a full-time desk supervisor where Joan worked until retirement. She enjoyed traveling on many trips with her close friends and enjoyed visits with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was a member of St. Clements Parish.
She is survived by a daughter Connie (Rick) Kirkpatrick (Saratoga Springs), and three sons; George Ross (Hammondsport NY), Jimme (Beth Mangiaracina) Ross (Stephentown, NY), and Chuck Ross of(Hudson Falls). Joan is also survived by six grandchildren; Meghan Kirkpatrick Myers, Timothy Kirkpatrick (fiancee Courtney White), Keirnyn Ross, Cayenne Ross, Morgan Ross, and McKenzie Ross; two great-grandchildren; Kylie and Kaleb Myers, a nephew Thomas Quinn, God-daughter Mary Jane Perkins, and several cousins.
In addition to her parents and husband Joan is predeceased by a brother James Q. Jr. and sister in law Dorothy Quinn.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Home of the Good Shepard Saratoga for the outstanding care they gave and their warmth and compassion. She truly loved living there. Also, a thank you to the staff at Saratoga Hospital for their outstanding care.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Clements Church, 231 Lake Avenue on Monday, March 20, 2017 at 10am. Burial will follow in St. Peters Cemetery, West Avenue. There will be no calling hours.
