Saratoga Springs - John P. Barella, 80, passed away peacefully at home on August 3, 2022, surrounded by his loving family.  A lifelong resident of Saratoga Springs, he was the son of the late John Barella, Sr. and Angelina (Glorioso) Barella.

John worked at General Electric in Schenectady for many years as a welder until his retirement. He married his beloved wife Joanne (Eichler) and just recently celebrated 60 years of marriage.

John was a member of the Saratoga-Wilton Elks Lodge 161, Fraternal Order of the Eagles (Aerie 2586), and a Lifetime Member of the Knights of Columbus Council 246.  He was also a Lifetime Member and Past President of the Principessa Elena Society.

John was fond of the Saratoga's West Side, where he spent his entire life, and he was considered its unofficial historian by many.

John was predeceased by his sister, Evelyn LeBarron.

He is survived by his wife, Joanne, his daughters, Lori Luse (Joe) and Lisa Sirois (Tim). He is also survived by his sister, Rose Armstrong (Bill), 6 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He will also be truly missed by his beloved dogs, Gino and Mario.

A funeral home service will be celebrated at 10am on Monday, August 8, 2022 at William J. Burke & Sons Funeral Home, 628 North Broadway, Saratoga Springs, NY (518-584-5373) with calling hours to follow until 12:30pm.

Burial will take place at St. Peter's Cemetery, West Avenue.
