Halfmoon, NY - John L. Brahm, 78, died on Wednesday, August 19th, 2026, at the Northeast Center for Rehab and Brain Injury, after a few months of battling the effects of several falls earlier this year.

Born in Troy, New York, on December 9th, 1947, John was the son of the late John L. Brahm, Sr., and Helen Harris Brahm. He was a 1965 graduate of Catholic Central High School in Troy, New York. He served in the U.S. Army and later, upon discharge, attended Siena College, where he graduated in 1973 with a Bachelors in Business Administration. He was initiated as a member of the Delta Sigma Pi Professional Business Administration Fraternity at Siena in 1972.

John retired from the Federal Government in 2012 after a combined 41 years of service as the Chief Accountant at the Albany VA Medical Center, and an Auditor for the VA’s Inspector General’s Office.

John is survived by his son, Kevin (Nichole) Brahm of Niskayuna; his longtime partner, Janice Stewart of Halfmoon; his Sister-in-Law, Vicki Brahm; his niece, Amanda (Grant) Morrison; and his nephew, Austin Brahm, all of Cohoes. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Timothy Brahm of Cohoes, his granddaughter, Madison, and his former wife and friend, Margaret Brahm of Clifton Park.

The family would like to express their appreciation to the doctors and nurses on the brain unit at Sunnyview Rehab Hospital and the Physical and Occupational therapists at the Northeast Center.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the V Foundation for Cancer Research, or a charity of your choosing.

Relatives and friends may call from 9:30 to 10:30 am Wednesday, September 2, 2026 at St Ambrose Church, 347 Old Loudon Road, Latham, NY, 12110. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 am.

Burial with military honors will be held following mass at 1 pm, at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Road, Schuylerville, NY 12871.
