Jack's Mass of Christian Burial will be livestreamed, Tuesday, January 5 at 10am.

Saratoga Springs, NY- John Joseph "Jack" Carey, 92, passed away peacefully on December 28, 2020 at the Wesley Community.

Jack was born in Saratoga Springs on January 25, 1928 to the late, Joseph and Anna (Meers) Carey.  He attended and graduated from Saratoga Springs High School in 1948.  Jack worked for John Hancock Life Insurance and was the District Office Supervisor in the Albany office, retiring in 1987 after 39 years.  Jack was very involved in the Elks Organization, joining the Syracuse Lodge # 31 in 1956.  In 1964 he transferred to the   Saratoga/ Wilton B.P.O. Elks Lodge #161.  He was an Exalted Ruler in 1977 and became District Deputy Grand Exalted Ruler of the Northeast District in 1987.  In 1984 he was voted "Old Timer of the Year" in Saratoga Springs.  Jack enjoyed spending time on his front porch where many passing by would honk and wave, or even stop by for a visit.  Our porch will certainly not be the same this year.

In addition to his parent's Jack is predeceased by an infant son, Kevin Michael.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Hazel (Doan) Carey, his three children, John and his wife Kristy, Ann Marie and Mary Elizabeth; as well as his two grandchildren Erin and Sean.

The family would like to thank the nurses on 4 Springs and the staff at the Wesley Community for the care Jack received in the last few months.  Thank you also to the nurses at Saratoga Hospice for their care.

Family and friends are invited to call from 2-4 PM on Monday, January 4, 2021 with an Elks service at 3:30 PM at the William J. Burke & Sons/ Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Home, 628 North Broadway, Saratoga Springs, NY.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM on Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at the Historic Church of St. Peter, 241 Broadway and will be live streamed on the William J. Burke & Sons Facebook. Burial will follow in the family plot in St. Peter's Cemetery.

The family plans to meet with friends to joyously celebrate his life sometime in 2021.
