GANSEVOORT—John P. Fox, 80, passed away peacefully on June 5, 2024, comforted by the warm embrace of his family's love and affection. Born on November 5, 1943, in Bronx, NY to the late James and Catherine Rita Fox, John was a man of steadfast integrity with a great sense of humor. He will be profoundly missed by all those who had the privilege of knowing him.

John graduated from DeWitt Clinton High School in the Bronx where he was an All-City receiver and running back on the football team. John proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army and the Army National Guard. Following several family members' footsteps, John fulfilled his lifelong dream of becoming a New York City Police Officer. While serving the city, he attended John Jay College of Criminal Justice. After retiring from the NYPD, John joined a land surveying company and became a self-taught land surveyor.

John married Rita Fox (née. Schneeberger) on June 20, 1970, at St. Patrick's Church, Yorktown Heights, NY. John and Rita began their family in the Bronx and shortly thereafter established residency in Goshen, NY for the next 45 years. He and his family were faithful members of St. Columba church in Chester, NY. An affectionate and endearing tease and taunt, John enjoyed commenting on his wife Rita singing the hymns off-key. He himself loved music and often boasted that he sang like Pavarotti in the shower. During his tenure as a land surveyor, John developed a love for nature and often spent time fishing and observing animals. He also spent a lot of time running including the Great American Weekend 5K and the Orange County Classic 10K. He had a knack for puzzles; he enjoyed completing the New York Times crossword, sudoku, cryptoquips, and jumbles. He was an avid sports fan, following the New York Giants, Yankees, and Knicks for the majority of his life.

A fiercely loyal family man and friend to all who knew him, John is survived by his devoted wife of almost 54 years, Rita Fox; his daughters and son, Kristen Rogan, Jennifer (Paul) Rogan, and John (Allyson) Fox; his brothers James (Eileen) Fox and Father Brian Fox. John was a loving grandfather to his eight grandchildren, Jake, Keira, Leah, Emma, and Owen Rogan, and James, Matthew, and Christopher Fox. He is also survived by several close sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, and cousins. John's deep sincerity and unconditional love endures through his family.

The family would like to express their gratitude and thanks to Community Hospice and The Wesley Community for their vigilant care in keeping John comfortable in his final stage of life, and all his past Saratoga area health providers.

Friends and family are invited to celebrate John's life and attend his Mass of Christian Burial at St. Clement's Church at 231 Lake Avenue in Saratoga Springs, NY at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 11, 2024.
