Saratoga Springs, NY - John F. Geren, a longtime area resident, passed away Sunday, Nov. 27, 2011 at the age of 101. Born Aug. 1, 1910 in Valley Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Francis and Margaret Geren. He graduated from Valley Falls High School and Albany State College. John taught business courses at numerous high schools in central New York before entering the FBI where he served as an agent during the early 1940s. He then went to work for Behr Manning Corporation where he rose to the position of Personnel Manager when he retired in 1974. He and his wife Jane also ran the Evergreens Motor Court in Malta for over 30 years. John was an avid gardener and during his retirement years he took great pleasure in his flowers, neighbors and friends. He was a member of St. Clement's Church in Saratoga Springs. In addition to his parents, John was predeceased by his wife Jane A. Geren in 2000. Survivors include his daughter Kathleen Ryan Geren; a son John J. (Cheyney) Geren M.D.; grandchildren Michael, James, Patrick and Jennifer Glover and many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. There will be no public calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30am Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2011 at St. Clements Church, 231 Lake Ave., Saratoga Springs.
