Saratoga Springs, NY - A resident of Saratoga Springs, New York, John Peter Grzegorzyk aka "The General" as he was known to some, at 66 years old passed away on May 11th, 2025, surrounded by his loving family at Albany Medical Center after losing his fight to cancer. John was a man that was larger than life, would make friends wherever he went, and if you asked his daughters they would say "He's our Daddy and he enforces the law".

John was born December 23, 1958 in New Britain, Connecticut to Elenore Gosselin and Thaddeaus Grzegorzyk. He was a proud Marine, leaving the force in 1976 as a Private Marksman. John's first marriage to Nannette Streb brought him his first beautiful baby girl while he was living in Florida. Once he moved back to Connecticut he met his second wife, Lisa Ann Vigliotti, which brought him 3 more beautiful girls. They moved and settled in Saratoga Springs, New York where John would live out the rest of his days finding any excuse to crack open a cold one, tell a story whether it was true or not, and make everyone and anyone laugh, even if it was at his own expense. Just having a great time while surrounded by his wife, children, grandchildren and friends.

Throughout his life, John was a man of many hats. A real "whatever you need" type of guy. He started out as a young entrepreneur, selling suntan oils on the beaches of Daytona which he always said was his favorite job. He worked with his family from time to time, fixing vacuum cleaners and sewing machines. He was a manager at Lowes for a brief time and became a part of the Lions Club, but if you asked, he would say he was a carpenter, a dang good one at that, and his clients would agree. He worked on anything from trailers to million-dollar houses and treated everybody the same.

John is survived by his loving wife Lisa Ann Vigliotti; his four adoring children Kimberly (Scott) Sineath, Samantha (Alex) Fields, Stephanie Grzegorzyk, Sydney (Chris) Manning; his 6 adorable grandchildren Luke Womble, Tyler Womble, Kaelyn Fields, Elijah Sineath, Isabella Manning and Orlando Manning and his two brothers Gregg Grzegorzyk and Mark Fazzina. He is preceded in death by his parents Thaddeaus Grzegorzyk, Elenore Gosselin, Carmen Fazzina, and Robert Lauderbaugh.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday May 20th at 12pm at Saint Clement's Church followed by burial with Military Honors in Saint Peter's Cemetery on West Avenue.

Immediately following the burial services please feel free to join the family at The View at Brookhaven to toast to the amazing man that John was and honor the memories he has left behind.

In lieu of flowers the family kindly requests donations to the American Cancer Society be made in his honor.
