Saratoga Springs, NY - John J. Guerin, Sr. left this earth to take his place among the angels on February 26, 2015. He finished this life's journey surrounded by his wife of 42 years, Teresa (Terri) and children Stephen, Christopher (Christina), Amy (Austin Riebel) and John Jr. (Julia). John was born May 29, 1942 in Waltham, Massachusetts to Lawrence and Johanna, and he and Terri moved to Saratoga Springs over 30 years ago. Terri has been the owner of Merle Norman Cosmetics since that time. John was one of nine children; two preceded him in death, Joan Marie and Annette. He leaves behind his sisters Cathy, Pauline, Mary and Lorraine, brothers Larry and Bobby and many nieces and nephews. John had a long and respected career in retail management consulting and retired from Ozer Group LLC and Gordon Brothers' Retail Partners Inc. in 2004. He was affectionately known as "Johnny Shoes" during his earlier 26-year career as District Manager of the Northeast for U.S. Shoe Corporation. An avid gardener with a beautiful yard and thriving vegetable patch, he enjoyed skiing, rollerblading, painting and traveling. He could be found enjoying the company of good friends at local coffee shops and, in years past, at the Gaslight or Joe Collins' Restaurant. His greatest love, however, was his grandchildren. Grandpa, or "Poppy", will be forever loved and missed by Michael, Lia, Christopher, Austin, Joey, Luke, Johnny, Isabella and Sophia. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11am Friday, April 10, 2015 in St. Clement's Church, 231 Lake Ave. Burial will follow at St. Peter's Cemetery, West Ave. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in John's name to Saratoga Hospital Foundation, The Marylou Whitney and Desmond DelGiacco MD Intensive Care Unit, 211 Church St., Saratoga Springs, NY 12866 in recognition and thanks for the care received from Dr. Del Giacco, Dr. Mastrianni and the C3 Nursing Team.
