JOHN "JACK" HART VARLEY
Saratoga Springs - John "Jack" H. Varley, 72 of Saratoga passed away on November 12, 2021 at home with his family after a courageous and accepting battle with multiple health issues.
Jack was born on July 14, 1949 in Saratoga Springs to Frances and Paul Varley, the youngest of four boys. Jack was a1967 graduate of Saratoga Springs High School and went into the Navy where he served on the U.S.S. Forrest Sherman. He met the love of his life Monica Otrembiak at D'Andrea's restaurant and they were married at St Joseph's Church in Greenfield Center on Sept 9, 1978. They lived in Saratoga Springs in the house that Jack built.
After more than 25 years of service as a corrections officer for Saratoga County, Jack retired. He then went on to drive the courtesy van for The Holiday Inn. His social skills truly made his next life chapter a most enjoyable experience for himself and everyone he met.
Jack was a parishioner at St Joseph's Church in Greenfield Center, where his children were baptized and received their sacraments. Jack was also a member of the Whitehall VFW. His most consuming passion was his antique cars. Jack was particularly proud of his chopped 1936 Ford 3 window coupe. He was well known and well loved by all in the car community, especially those in The Rumblers CC and Norsemen car club.
Jack was very social and always enjoyed greeting you with a joke or story. He loved the oldies, the music his boys grew up on, and cheered for his Yankees to the end. He was a big supporter of organ donations, always generous, and encouraging to all the people he met.
Jack is survived by his wife of 43 years Monica (Otrembiak), sons: Paul Anthony "Meister" (Jessica), William Francis "Billy", three adoring grandchildren McKenzie Grace, Hunter Jack, and Elizabeth Maven, brothers: Paul "Larry" (Evelyn), Pat (Patti), Brendan (Lorita), nieces: Julie (Dave), Lisa (Ted), Katie (Brian), nephew: Patrick, grandnieces and nephews: Brandon, Kara, Kayla, Logan and Cormack, sister in law: Mary Beth Wing, brothers in law: John Otrembiak and Stephen Otrembiak ( Nancy), many cousins and dear friends, and especially Hazel "Sissy."
