Saratoga Springs, NY- John C. Hamill, 85 of Saratoga Springs, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 15, 2021, at his residence while surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Saratoga on July 3, 1935 he was the son of the late John A. Hamill and Grace Weatherwax Hamill. He was predeceased by sisters Ruth Mitchell and Sally Cogan.

He was a lifelong resident of Saratoga Springs, leaving only to serve in the United States Marine Corps after high school.

He was retired from the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles, Saratoga Raceway and Saratoga Race Course. He was a longtime communicant of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, assisting in many areas during that time.

He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Marjorie Brookman and his children Kate (Richard) Edwards of Greenfield Center, Kris (Bruce) Witkop of Saratoga, Karen (Jerry) DellaPorta of Jacksonville, Kevin (Andrea) Hamill of Wilton and Klaire (Timothy) Nappi of Saratoga. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to call from 2-4 PM on Saturday, June 19, 2021 at the William J. Burke & Sons/ Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Home, 628 N. Broadway, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.  A funeral home service will follow at 4 PM with Pastor, Adam Wiegand, of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, officiating.

The family would like to give thanks to Dr. Delmonte and his staff for their help over the last two years.
