Obituary

John Iacometta, passed away peacefully at home on January 30, 2024.

Born in Catanzaro, Italy on February 16, 1927 he was the son of the late Berenice Muzzuca and Pasquale Iacometta.

John was introduced to his future wife, Jennie Rossetti, on the last day of her trip to Italy. After corresponding through mail for over a year, they were married civilly in Italy. John then came to the US and they married in Basilica of Regina Pacis, a Catholic Church in Brooklyn, NY.  He became a US citizen while learning English and going to college to become an architect. After graduating from Pratt Institute, he worked at various architectural firms such as Taylor Clark Architects, Welton Becket and Associates, and Architect Design Tech. He was a project manager on several jobs, and most notably the design and construction of Haj Terminal at New Jeddah International Airport in Saudi Arabia.

Along with his wife and parents, he was the last survivor out of six siblings: Tommaso, Sereno, Ruggero, Maria, and Rosetta. John is survived by his four children Bernice Grec and her husband Andrew, John Thomas Iacometta, David Iacometta and his wife Mary Jean, and Anna Querrard and her husband David. They were blessed with five grandchildren Amanda, David Joseph Iacometta, and Christopher, Matthew and Lauren Querrard.

He was a hardworking man who loved his wife and children, and supported them in every way. John was respected and loved by all who knew him.

Relatives and friends may call from 8:30-9:30am, Friday, February 2, 2024 at the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 North Broadway, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10am on Friday, February 2, 2024 at St. Clement's Church, 231 Lake Ave.

Burial will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery, West Ave, Saratoga Springs.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in John's name to the St. Clement's food pantry, 231 Lake Ave, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866 or to a charity of one's choice.
