Saratoga Springs John J. Kelly, 73, passed away peacefully on Friday (Apr. 3, 2009) at his home with his loving family at his side. Born in Troy on May 16, 1935, son of the late Frank and Mildred Baker Kelly. He is the beloved husband of 50 years to Edith Haskins Kelly. Mr. Kelly was always known as Jack to his family and friends. He was a graduate of the LaSalle Institute in Troy. Jack retired after 38 years of service with Niagara Mohawk Power Corp. Over the years his favorite pastimes included camping in the Adirondacks, gardening, downhill skiing, golfing, and spending time with family. He especially enjoyed fly fishing with son Brian and caring for his home in Saratoga Springs. Jack was known for his sense of humor and storytelling. In addition to his wife Edie, he is survived by his four children and six grandchildren; a daughter, Susan (Bill) Schafer of Rexford, sons, John F. Kelly (Diana) of Warrensburg, David M. (Donna) Kelly of Saratoga Springs, Brian P. Kelly of Lake George, grandchildren Sam Schafer of Rexford, John Karl, Danny and Timmy Kelly of Warrensburg, Shealyn and Shannon Kelly of North Carolina and two brothers, Frank (Carol) Kelly of Glens Falls and James Kelly of Troy. Relatives and friends may call from 9:30 to 11:00am on Wednesday (Apr.8, 2009) at the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 North Broadway (584-5373). A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30am in St. Clement's Church, 231 Lake Ave. Burial will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery, West Ave.
