Round Lake, NY - John T. Shafts, 57, passed away after a long illness on Monday, June 19, 2017, at Saratoga Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.

John was a graduate of Shenendehowa High School and enjoyed his woodworking crafts, camping and fishing. He was a cook at the Grand Prix Restaurant for over 20 years before his disability.

Survivors include his devoted wife Lisa (Phoenix) Shafts; his two children, John and Chelsea Shafts and two grandchildren, Lexani and Cameron, all of Round Lake.  He is also survived by his four brothers, Joseph, Michael, Steve and Timothy Shafts.  John was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Irma Shafts of Round Lake.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Saratoga Hospital who had taken care of John for years, and the nurses and physical therapists at Kindred.

Relatives and friends may call from 12 noon to 1pm Friday, June 23, 2017 at the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 North Broadway, Saratoga Springs (584-5373). A funeral home service will be conducted at 1pm by the Rev. Thomas J. Kelly, Pastor, St. Mary's Church of Ballston Spa.
