In loving memory of John (Jack) Raymond Sheppard August 1, 1933 October 14, 2008. Born in Schenectady, NY. Loving husband to Sandra Sheppard, brother to Harry Sheppard (Pleasanton, CA); father to Sueanne Sheppard (South Glens Falls, NY) and Roger Sheppard (Petaluma, CA), Step-children: Alyssa Polacsek (Brooklyn, NY), Lauren Heath (Avon, IN), Randy Polacsek (Bargersville, IN), and 12 beloved grandchildren: Adam, Desiree, Brennan, Morgan, Mitchell, Sydney, Elijah, Samuel, Elexandra, Mikayla, Andrea, and Jack. Jack was a graduate of Nott Terrace High School in Schenectady, NY. He attended Lehigh College and Bryant College graduating in 1959. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1953 - 1957 and was a Korean War Veteran. Jack owned Scheibel & Sheppard Lumber Company later purchased by Curtis Lumber where he became District Manager. He and his wife later owned and operated Sound Side Court Motel on Cape Cod where he also built custom homes before retiring to Manchester, VT and Florida. Jack loved to golf and was a twenty year member of Manchester Country Club and Heron Creek Golf & Country Club. It was one of his favorite pastimes and he was good at it - that, and fixing anything and everything that was broken. He was the personification of the term handyman. Jack was an avid skier. Jack and Sandy were fortunate to be able to travel and see much of the world including Japan, China, Tahiti, Spain, Russia, and England having returned recently from his last trip to France and the Normandy Beaches. Jack was one of a group of friends from Kindergarten that stayed in touch throughout their lives known as the Kindergarten Group. He will be greatly missed.
