Saratoga Springs, NY- It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of, John Szekely, 77, of Saratoga Springs, NY on May 29, 2020.  God has called him home.  May he rest in peace knowing he was loved and admired.

John was born in Saratoga Springs to the late, John R. Szekely and Marie Hosford on May 5, 1943.  He married, Jean Szekely (Suttle) on May 10, 1969 and they remained in Saratoga Springs for all their years together.

He worked in hospitality at both of the Saratoga Race Tracks as a Maitre D' and bartender for decades.  He was a hard worker and taught his children that same work ethic.  Those that knew him will remember him saying often, "do the right thing".  He loved to be around people, was sincere and equally generous.

John enjoyed fishing, watching sports, good home cooked food, good laughs with friends, but most of all watching his family grow, blossom and have families of their own.  He took part in every event and interest his grandchildren ever had and was a strong presence in their lives.  Loving his family is what he did best.

He was a dedicated husband, father and provider for his loving family.  We will miss him dearly as we celebrate his life.

John is survived by his wife, Jean; his brother, Alan; his children, Mitzi, Paula, Russell and Lauren, Paul, Michelle, Michael and Debbie; as well as many grandchildren including, Sarah, Amanda, Jonathan, Julia Marie, Julia Jane, Diana, Mischa and Kayla
