Saratoga Springs, NY John C. Trainer, Jr. of Lawrence Street, died Tuesday, March 17, 2009 at Ellis Hospital. He was 81. Born on February 13, 1928 in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late John C. Sr. and Rita I. Brennan Trainer. He graduated in 1945 from Collingswood High School in New Jersey. John then served in the United States Navy as an aviation cadet from 1945 to 1947. He then attended Duke University, was a member of the Phi Kappa Si Fraternity and earned a Bachelors degree in business administration. John was a sales rep for Commonwealth Shoe & Leather in Whitman, MA. He was also a real estate GRI agent for Coldwell Banker Stevens in Annandale, VA. John loved to golf, deep sea fish, and watch Duke Blue Devil basketball. He was very active member of the Malta Presbyterian Church as well as a member of the American Legion Adirondack Post 70 in Saratoga Springs. In addition to his parents, John was predeceased by his wife of 53 years, Sarah Haldeman Trainer. He is survived by two daughters, Sarah Fish and her husband Tom of Saratoga Springs and Susan Huck and her husband Paul of New York City; one brother, Paul Trainer of Salisbury, MD; one nephew, Curt Trainer of Mickleton, NJ and friend Edna Walls of Saratoga Springs. There will be no calling hours. Burial with military honors will be at 2pm Monday, March 23, 2009 at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Duell Rd., Schuylerville. A memorial service will be at 4pm in the activity room at Wesley Health Care Center, 131 Lawrence St., Saratoga Springs.
