New York, NY - Jon D. Andreadakis, formerly of Saratoga Springs, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, June 18, 2009 at his apartment in New York City. He was 57. Born on March 19, 1952 in Glens Falls, NY, he graduated from Saratoga High School in 1970 and was the male recipient of the Yaddo Award. He graduated from Skidmore College and attended the O'Neill Theater Institute. Jon was a lighting designer who has been lighting dance, theater, music, opera, corporate industrials and special events for more than 30 years. He collaborated with Johnny Dodd for 15 years, was on the Board of Directors of 14th Street Stage Lighting, and was the associate designer on the Pulitzer Prize-Winning production of Sam Shepard's " Buried Child". He was the Resident Designer of the Gudde Dancers. His work has been favorably reviewed in "Backstage", "Dance Magazine", "Variety", and "The New York Times". Jon's association with Theater for the New City of New York City spans three decades. Survivors include his mother, Mary Andreadakis Deepe of Saratoga Springs; his devoted companion of eighteen years, Mary Blanchard of NYC; his brothers, Thomas D. Andreadakis and Michael D. (Marcia) Andreadakis of Ballston Spa; five nieces and three nephews. Jon is predeceased by his father, Dan Andreadakis and his sister-in-law, Robin Andreadakis. There will be no calling hours. A graveside service will take place at 11am Friday, July 10, 2009 at Greenridge Cemetery, Lincoln Ave. A forty day memorial service will be held at St. John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church in New York City on Sunday, July 26, 2009.
