Saratoga Springs

Obituary

It is with extreme sadness that we announce the sudden accidental passing of our beloved son, Jonathan “Jon” Drew Trossbach on August 18, 2026. Jon was born on March 31, 1993, at Saratoga Hospital. He is the son of Colleen M. (McNicol/Boyce) and Robert D. Trossbach of Schuylerville, NY, who will mourn his loss forever.

Jon is a 2011 graduate from Schuylerville Central Schools and then graduated from Clarkson University in 2015, earning a Bachelor of Science in Physics and Math, followed by completing his Master’s Degree in Computer Engineering at New York University (NYU) in 2021. Some of Jon’s greatest memories were working at PJ’s BBQ and at Parker MX where he developed a love for riding motocross. Jon then taught at The NorthStar Independent School in Holyoke, MA. This is a school designed for high school students that struggled to assimilate in the public school. This work came from his passion for learning and his desire to help others succeed. Jon had a dream to one day change the way the public school system taught our youth. After working at NorthStar Jon moved to New Hampshire to work in the field he loved and ultimately working for Red Hat (IBM) in cloud computing, where he continued to work until he was struck with an illness.

Jon loved nature and his travels to places like Belarus, Iceland, Norway, British Columbia, Switzerland, and Japan. Most of all, Jon loved New Hampshire and more specifically the Lakes Region where he bought a home on New Found Lake.

Jon was loved by friends and family, leaving us all with great memories of his humor and love for everyone. In addition to those many friends and his parents, Jon is survived by his brother, Charles M. Maurer, his niece Sophia R. Maurer, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins.

Relatives and friends are invited to call on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, from 3-5:30pm at William J. Burke & Sons Funeral Home (628 North Broadway, Saratoga Springs, NY). A Memorial Service will begin at 5:30pm at the funeral home.

Burial will be private.
