Saratoga Springs - Joseph N. Braim, 87, of Saratoga Springs passed away peacefully on March 9 th , 2021 alongside his loving family. He was born on July 8 th , 1933 to Henry and Madeline Ebert Braim.
In December of 1952 he married Beatrice Smith and together they raised five children over the course of their 68 year marriage. Joseph was particularly proud of his over 20 year service to Saratoga County as a Deputy Sheriff, retiring in 1985. After his retirement he worked many more years for Congress Gas and Oil, managing their Ballston Avenue Car Wash and gas station.
Joseph found exceptional pleasure in hunting and fishing with his sons and many grandchildren. He was a superior vegetable gardener and enjoyed supplying his family, friends and neighbors with the fruits of his labor.
Joseph was a "go to" Dad who was always available to his family for any issue, problem or event. He enjoyed his many rides with his son to the Adirondacks, fishing trips with his grandsons, a good horseshoe game, Gin Rummy with his family and friends as well as his weekly poker game at the Knights of Columbus with his longtime friends.
Most importantly, his family was his pride and joy. Throughout his life he looked forward to the family summer picnics, graduation parties, family weddings and the occasional trip to Vegas.
Joseph was predeceased by his wife Beatrice by 37 days, his son Douglas and infant daughter Theresa. He is survived by his son Donald (Elaine) of Saratoga Springs, daughters Susan Briggs of Myrtle Beach, SC, Joanne Natalie (Joseph) of Saratoga Springs, Joyce Tourtellot (Jay) of Ballston Spa, brother Louis Braim of Queensbury and sister Louise Severson of Connecticut. His grandchildren, Edward Braim (Angela Bronzene), Danielle Braim, Bryan Briggs (Lisa Kirchner), Kristy Briggs, Jennifer Delaney, Jason Delaney (Christine), Douglas Braim (Jennifer McDonald), Christopher Braim (Annie), Joseph Braim, Amy Sawyer (Matt), Andrew Tourtellot (Danielle), 10 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Due to COVID restrictions, services will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any donations in Joseph's memory be made to the Wesley Community Foundation , 131 Lawrence Street, Saratoga Springs, NY.
