Obituary

Saratoga Springs, NY Joseph J. Campilango of Outlook Ave., returned to the arms of our Lord on Friday (May 7, 2010) while wintering in Largo, FL. He was 70. Born January 1, 1940, Joe was the son of Minnie (LaBarck) Campilango and the late James L. Campilango. Joe was a graduate of Saratoga Springs High School, class of 1957. He was a veteran of the US Army. Joe retired from the New York State Police Headquarters, Troop G in Loudonville after 26 years as a general mechanic. He also worked part time as a bartender at DAndreas and the Old Firehouse Restaurant for over 35 years. Joe was a communicant of the Church of St. Peter. He liked the outdoors hunting, fishing and sitting by the pool, but he especially loved dancing, watching his beloved Yankees and was an instant fan of any team that beat the Red Sox. Everyone will remember his wonderful smile, his sense of humor and making people laugh. He was predeceased by his wife of 44 years, Jean (Wray) Campilango. He is survived by his sons, Joseph Scott (Connie) Campilango of Saratoga Springs, Brian J. (Won E) Campilango of Hawaii, his daughter, Lisa Campilango of Saratoga Springs; his grandson, Brandon J. Campilango; his sisters, Rosemarie Ditch of Saratoga Springs, Marianne (Victor) Altieri of Palmyra, VA, Jamie (Thomas) Kupstas of Annapolis, MD; his aunt, Grace Dubiock; five nieces, two nephews and many other relatives and friends including his special friend Jenney Hetrick. Relatives and friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8pm on Friday, May 14, 2010 at the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 North Broadway (584-5373). A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30am on Saturday (May 15, 2010) at the Church of St. Peter, 241 Broadway, with Rev. Dominic S. Ingemie, officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in the family plot at St. Peters Cemetery, West Avenue.
