Saratoga Springs, NY - Joseph W. Welden, of Marvin Street, passed away Saturday (June 19, 2010) at Saratoga Hospital. He was 70. Born on Dec. 17, 1939 in Saratoga Springs, NY, he is a son of the late Henry Welden, Sr. and Mary Mihalek Welden Santabar and was a lifelong resident. He attended Saratoga Springs city schools and was a US Army veteran. Joe worked for the city of Saratoga Springs DPW water department as utilities foreman, prior to his retirement. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by one brother, Henry Welden, Jr. and one sister, Olive Welden. Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Sandra (Dailey) Welden of Saratoga Springs; three children, Elizabeth Krakat and Mark Welden, both of Saratoga Springs and Darcy (Delroy) Ballentine of Port Charlotte, FL; two brothers, George Welden of Ballston Spa and Frank (Agnes) Welden of Greenfield Center, NY; three sisters, Marsha Klementowski of Harlem, GA, Mary (William) King of Saratoga Springs and Frances (Charles) Haviland of Wilton; one sister-in-law, Lucy Welden of Saratoga Springs; 13 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30am Friday in St. Clement's Roman Catholic Church, 231 Lake Ave. Burial will be private.
