Saratoga Springs - Josephine M. Gwiazdowski, 93, of Union Ave., died Saturday (Mar. 28, 2009) at Saratoga Hospital. Originally from Amsterdam, NY, she married Henry J. Gwiazdowski in 1937 and resided in Schenectady. When first married, she was a hairdresser in her own beauty shop and also assisted her husband at their company, R & G Bottling Soda Works. In 1955, she and her husband purchased Bay Shore Tavern on Saratoga Lake and in her spare time, Josephine enjoyed knitting, crocheting and ceramics. Throughout the years, family and friends looked forward to spending Christmas at their home, enjoying Grandma's apple pie and homemade Polish food. She is predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Henry S. Gwiazdowski, whom she loved so much and missed so terribly after his passing; along with sisters Charlotte and Winifred and brother, Elmer. Survivors include her daughter, Patricia A. Ambrozak of Saratoga Lake; one son, Stanley J. (wife, Marsha) Gwiazdowski of Glenville; sister, Beverly (husband, Joseph) Jason of Saratoga Springs; three grandchildren who reside locally, John Ambrozak, Christopher Gwiazdowski and Rodney (wife, Rebecca) Gwiazdowski; two great-granddaughters, a niece, Kathy Jason and family of Tampa, FL and nephew, Edward Rucinski and family of Henderson, Neveda. Special thanks to the doctors who gave her respectful care and especially to the whole staff at Wesley's Evergreen Day Care. Relatives and friends may call from 9:30 to 10:30am Tuesday at the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 North Broadway (584-5373).
