Obituary

Saratoga Springs, NY - Josephine Katherine Iorio, nee Randio, died peacefully on Saturday, February 4, 2012. She was born to Italian immigrants, Maddalena Chianese and Francesco Randio in the hamlet of Coeymans, New York. Josephine was one of fourteen children. In 1941, Jo married lifelong Saratoga Springs resident, Vincent Salvatore Iorio. She loved her new hometown when she moved to Saratoga. In the early years, Josephine worked as a hairdresser at the Grand Union Hotel and a camera girl at the Piping Rock Nightclub. For many years she enjoyed being a creative homemaker and a stay at home mother. Later, she was a seamstress at Van Raalte. In addition, Josephine was an active member of the community. She was a charter member in the Principessa Elena Society where she served on numerous committees and played on the bocce ball team. She volunteered extensively at St. Clements Church, where she was an extraordinary minister and a choir member. Also, she was a former member of the Catholic Daughters of America, Rosary Altar Society and Ladies of Charity. Josephine was predeceased by her husband and her firstborn son, Dr. Andrew F. Iorio. She is survived by her son, Patrick, his wife, Jamie (nee Flavia); her daughter, Debra and her husband, Michael McKeever. She was a loving grandmother to Jennifer Iorio Taddeo and her husband, Thomas Taddeo, Andrew Iorio, and Sarah, Jessamine, her namesake, Thomas and Adriana McKeever. Josephine was the great grandmother of Lexi Iorio and Ava Taddeo. Josephine will be deeply missed by her family and surviving siblings, Ralph Randio (Marie), Sam Randio (Jean), Liberta Judware, Teresa Fox and Susan Burnell Legg, her sister-in-law, Adrienne Iorio Caruso, many nieces, nephews and her dearest friend for the past seventy years, Josephine Raucci. Relatives and friends may call from 3-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 10, 2012 at the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 North Broadway, Saratoga Springs (584-5373). A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 11, 2012 at St. Clements Church, 231 Lake Avenue, Saratoga Springs.
