Obituary

Saratoga Springs Josephine A. Lanaro, of Lawrence St., passed away Sunday (Aug. 31, 2008) at the Wesley Health Care Center. She was 96. Born on May 4, 1912 in Saratoga Springs, NY, she was the daughter of the late Rocco and Angeline (Pompay) Levo and a lifelong resident. An accomplished chef and baker, she created many Italian wedding trays of specialties for area families over many years. She was employed at the New York State Saratoga Spa bath houses for over 30 years years prior to her retirement. She is predeceased by her brothers, Anthony, Albert and Sabbeth Levo; three sisters, Jenny Arpey, Mamie Verrigni and Jean DAgostino, and her husbands, Bud Richmond and Guiseppe Jos. Lanaro. Survivors include one sister, Margaret Manson of Saratoga Springs and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Relatives and friends may call from 8:30 to 9:30am Saturday morning (Sept. 6, 2008) in Our Ladys Chapel at St. Clements Parish Center, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30am in St. Clements Church, 231 Lake Avenue. The Rev. Neil Draves-Arpaia will officiate and the Rite of Committal will be in the family plot at St. Peters Cemetery, West Ave. Arrangements are under the direction of the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes of 628 North Broadway (584-5373). Memorials may be made in her name to Community Hospice of Saratoga, 179 Lawrence St., or to the Wesley Health Care Center, 131 Lawrence St., Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.
