Middle Grove - Josephine L. "Josie" Potter, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 27, 2025, at Albany Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family. She was 72 years old.
Born on August 27, 1952, in Saratoga Springs, NY, Josie lived a life grounded in love, faith, and an enduring commitment to family. She was known for her kind heart, gentle spirit, and the deep joy she found in being a grandmother. Her warmth touched all who knew her.
Josie was an active member of Simpson United Methodist Church in Rock City Falls, where she joyfully sang in the choir and cultivated lasting friendships. She cherished time spent with her siblings, children, and extended family—especially at her beloved camp in Blue Mountain Lake. Her passions included knitting, sewing, tending to her many plants and flowers, wintering in Florida, and enjoying the loyal companionship of her dog, Ruby.
After more than 20 years of dedicated service, Josie retired from Espey Mfg. and Electronics Corp., where she was a valued and respected colleague.
Josie is survived by her loving husband of over 26 years, John M. Potter; her children, Jaime L. Erickson (Michael) and Jason R. Eichorst (Sara); her cherished step-sons, Bret Potter (Christine) and Ben Potter (Monique). She was a proud and devoted grandmother to Britney Potter, Beau Potter, Ella Eichorst, Hunter Bridges, Madilyn Erickson, Evan Potter, Colin Erickson, Jack Potter, Charlotte Erickson, and Finn Potter.
She is also survived by her father, Glen Cullen (Mary); siblings, Janette Smith (Harold), Jacalyn Eichorst, Neil Cullen, and Joy Card; along with many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
Josie was predeceased by her beloved mother, Barbara E. Cullen, and her dear son, Jeremy I. Eichorst.
The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to the staff at Saratoga Hospital and Albany Medical Center for their compassionate care during Josie's final days.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Josie's name to Simpson United Methodist Church in Rock City Falls, NY.
