Saratoga Springs, NY - Joyce E. Oliver of Jefferson St. passed away Monday, Nov. 7, 2011 at Saratoga Hospital. She was 57. Born on Aug. 2, 1954 in Saratoga Springs, she was the daughter of Violet M. Oliver and the late Charles R. Oliver. Joyce lived in Saratoga Springs her entire life and was a member of the Bethesda Episcopal Church and the Principessa Elena Society. She enjoyed crafts, baking and spending time with her family, especially her nephew and godson, Brendan Oliver, who she was very close to. Her nieces and nephews will remember the hours of crafts she did with them. She had a love for the Christmas Holiday and was an extremely giving person. Joyce started the family tradition of Christmas Eve breakfast with Santa at the City Center over ten years ago. This tradition will be carried on by her family, especially her nieces and nephews, that have a significant love for her. Joyce volunteered at Head Start and the ALS Center. In addition to her father, Joyce is predeceased by one brother, Charles "Chuck" Oliver and a sister, Mary Oliver Bradley. She never healed from the loss of her sister, Mary, and is now at peace being with her. Survivors include her mother, Violet of Saratoga Springs; two brothers, Richard (Becky) Oliver of Palm Harbor, FL and Jesse Oliver of Saratoga Springs; a sister, Wanda Wren also of Saratoga Springs; nephew Brendan Oliver and nieces Jennah Oliver and Melissa Oliver-Zabielski as well as several aunts, uncles, other nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews. Relatives and friends may call from 4pm to 7pm Thursday, Nov. 10, 2011 at the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 North Broadway, Saratoga Springs (584-5373). A funeral service will be conducted at 10am Friday, Nov. 11, 2011 at the funeral home.
