Julia (Joan) DeRusso Engel

Ballston Spa – Joan M Engel, 76, of Ballston Spa, died peacefully on Tuesday May 17 after a brief illness, just days after her former husband and best friend, Robert Engel passed.  Born in Watervliet, NY Joan was the daughter of the late Anthony and Mary Denio DeRusso.

Joan leaves behind her brother, Peter (Bonnie) DeRusso of Troy; her sister, Mary Smith of Ft. Walton Beach, Florida along with numerous nieces and nephews and good friend, Michael Forchilli.  Joan was predeceased by her son, John Anthony Dittmer, along with her twin sister Jean Noble, her sister Josephine Matthews, and her brother Anthony DeRusso.

Visitation will be held from 10 -11am  with a funeral home service at 11am on Thursday May 19, 2022 at the William J. Burke and Sons/ Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Home, 628 North Broadway in Saratoga Springs NY.  Burial will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery, West Ave.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Washington Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing for the care provided.
